Tocai is dead. Long live Tokaji… (contd.)

The controversy  might be a shot in the arm for Tocai Friuliano due to the resulting publicity. The producers are gearing up for change and  are already in the process of dissemination of information at various plaforms, like Vinitaly 2006 where I discussed the situation with many stakeholders.

Come April 1, 2007 and Tocai wines will not be around and Tocai will be  'dead'. Sovereign Impex who imports Tocai from Moletto in India  will have to get the restaurants to change the name to the newly designated  'Friuliano'. The red Tocai will be renamed as Barbarano. And are French really investing in Tokaji? Disznoko, one of the top wineries for whom Ms. Kiraly handles the PR is owned by AXA-Millesimes, a French insurance group.Tokaji (wines from Tokaj) makes dry and sweet Aszu wines, the wine of kings, czars and aristocracies.
