Jess Jackson, the second half of Kendall Jackson has been selected by the Wine Enthusiast Magazine for the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. The magazine chose Jess Jackson to receive its Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, which included nothing less than helping to bring well-made, accessible wines to the American public, replacing generic wines with varietals, and thereby expanding wine appreciation in general.
Although in November 2000, Jackson stepped down as Chairman of the Board for Kendall-Jackson, “stepping down” did not mean retiring, or resting on well-deserved laurels. In fact, in the ensuing six years, Jess Jackson expanded his family of companies to an unprecedented level, taking total annual production to 5 million cases. Today, Jackson Family Wines is comprised of four divisions: Kendall-Jackson, which sells 3.5 million cases, and the three other divisions which account for 1.5 million: the White Rocket line; Jackson Wine Estates International, with four brands on three continents, and Artisan & Estates. This last division includes the 22 small, premium California wineries, many of them created by Mr. Jackson in the past few years.
2007 also happens to be the 25th Anniversary of Kendall-Jackson, so it is a milestone for both the man and his company. He has continued to set new challenges for himself and the American wine-drinking public. He elevated the quality of wine in California, by creating a style and model for the rest of the industry. And he keeps setting the bar higher, reflecting and anticipating the evolving taste of the consumer. Whom he helped educate.
For his uncanny ability to learn and to teach, and his on-going contributions to the enjoyment of wine, Wine Enthusiast Magazine is proud to honor Jess Jackson, not only for his past lifetime achievements but also in anticipation of his future ones.
Jess Jackson, along with nine other Wine Star Award recipients, will be honored at Wine Enthusiast Magazine' s gala Wine Star Awards Dinner at the New York Public Library on January 29, 2007 . If you would like to attend, please write to us for details.
Kendall Jackson is being imported in India through Brindco Sales.
